Would you pay 10 bucks for a computer virus?
Troika design has a point here; when personal computers started to get popular, say twenty five years ago, virus were little programs designed to have fun and amuse users. Troika is a collective of artists, designers and engineers that decided to go back to that golden age of bit infection and create a virus-work-of-art.
The Newton virus uses the movement sensors equipped inside apple laptops to apply physic characteristics to all icons and interface elements of the OS.
The virus affects the user interface making it collapse and bounce al over the place, depending on the actual position of the laptop. Besides turning your OS upside down, and being quite a postmodern reflection over technology, the virus is harmful. The virus is part of the permanent collection of the MOMA New York.
They sell a bundle of the virus as a screensaver and a USB infection for $9.99.

If my iPhone started to behave like that I would be absolutely mortified! After all I am paying quite a lot in order to send and receive calls on it. I could definitely think of a much better use to put someones excess income on. At this point and time I can speak for myself and say that I would not spend one red cent on any computer virus. We pretty much deal with them on a daily basis. I guess that in todays modern marketplace there just might be people willing to pay for such things, but wouldn’t that money be better spent supporting a local charity or food bank? This is one idea that can be left by the roadside in my opinion.

who are these people buying this virus?? I think that list of people is a good list for candidates for enforced sterility. These people should not be adding their stupid genes to the rest of the population. I’m more afraid of the movie “idiocracy” actually occuring (in watered down form) than the earth falling into the sun or any of this stuff one of my coworkers always freaks out over…
