Meet the amazing google Goggles

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the future! Out of all the announcements that Google made today, the one that caught most of my attention was their experimental addition “Google Googles”.

Until now, we could make searches by typing our query, or by saying it aloud through voice recognition software. Now, Google has implemented at a primary stage a software for android devices that supports visual search. What the F??? Yes, that was the first thing that came to my mind  too. It now turns out that you can point your mobile’s camera to any subject, frame so it fills your screen and voilá, Google will give you search results based on image analysis. This really sounds like something from a sci fi movie. but it’s real and it’s happening now. Good luck to all of you Android users out there. Check out the video demo of the app.

First it was Google Earth then Google Street View and now Google Googles. It won’t be long before Google knows what we are going to be doing, when we will be doing it, and with who we will be doing it with and why we are doing it in the first place!

We once thought that Microsoft was bad with Internet Explorer but just look at what Google is up to. Talk about quickly becoming a monopoly! How long do we allow this to continue before we realize that it is to late to do anything about it?

With the continuing rise of AR = Augmented Reality fastly becoming the most developed facet of technology today!

Add Google Googles along with TwittARound and TAT Augmented ID and throw in SREngine to boot and we will have little to no privacy left. GPS allows for both geotagging and geocaching knowing where you are and where you have been. Least of all lets not leave out RFID and the fact it can be placed subdurally under the skin and the future George Orwell once wrote about does not seem that far fetched after all.

On a lighter note this could give a whole new meaning to using escort services or visiting gentleman’s clubs! I wonder if Sasha Grey is aware of this we could always send out a tweet. LOL

I just bet you were thinking of the possibilities of using this while shopping it could be partnered with a coupon service like YOWZA for the iPhone. It just has to be developed to work with Android.

Could Law Enforcement also be considering using this since they have been working with Sprint for over the past year without the general public being fully aware.

This can be both a good thing and a bad thing it just depends on how it is utilized.

@Zandor To me the whole thing is just plain scary. “They” can track us in our applications and on the websites we visit. GPS allows companies to know exactly where we are… Shit it’s like somebody is copying 1984 to the letter!… BTW Sacha Gray has a twitter account…LOL. Of course she does! If she reads Sartre, Twitter is a walk at the park!

  3. actually my G2 android phone does this for amazon searches. If it cant figure out the barcode i take a photo and in 1-2 minutes it lists matching items. wicked cool
