It’s hard to deny how new technologies affect the way our social patterns develop and evolve. These day’s you hear things like “tweetiquette”, and see police bulletins talking about “facebook safety rules”; new concepts impossible to understand just a few years ago. Melissa Lafsky made this article for Discover Magazine, where she shows us the biggest misuses and imprudence made in twitter in various fields, like politics and entertainment. You’ll sure find some laughs here.

Well it does seem to show that not every “Tweet” can be a winner or even a contender in some if not most cases. In the case of “theconnor” or “Cisco Fatty” as he is better know is the primary reason for separate Twitter accounts one professional and the other personal to better separate the two and keep the tweets set to private!

In the case of Courtney Love there is no accounting for personal self control and a threating rant coming form her does not surprise me in the least. After her stints in drug rehab centres and such.

Hold on I gotta take a break I am receiving tweets from McDonalds Canada Best but and Future Shop along with Pizza Pizza LOL It seems like corporate clients could benefit from the services of Baratunde Thurston. A comedian who was thinking outside the box when he sent that particular tweet.

Now the last one by James Andrews brings me back to keeping separate your professional and personal lives and also keeping all tweets secure and only allow those that you wish to see them to actually see them.

It is not at all surprising that politics have also jumped on the micro blogging bandwagon because of it’s sudden popularity. It did help the Democrats gain the majority of the youth vote. The balance of political power can be influenced by a single well placed tweet.

It will only be a matter of time before NASA develops some sort of twitter application for the astronauts to use. They already developed an application for the iPhone avaiable on iTunes!

It just goes to show be extremely careful who you follow and who is following you on Twitter. Fake accounts are always something to be on the lookout for, especially when it comes to celebrities.

They found a way to make Facebook profitable so why not Twitter. It was just a matter of time before the entrepreneurial users were able to capitalize on it.

The military being aware of both the advantages and dis-advantages of Twitter have more than likely taken steps and counter measures have been designed to safeguard high priority targets. You know what they say “the best offence is a good defence.”

The Red Cross was able to best utilize Twitter to help provide critical updates to those that really needed them in a time of emergency.

Famous words similar to when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon. They will both be associated with once in a lifetime event in human history.

Excellent comment Zandor! You just nailed it. Thinking about where social media is heading us, I wonder if infidelity is going to be extinct in the near future. I guess we humans are just going to consider it a legal tacit part of love. Have you made some twitter blunders yourself?

None I am willing to admit to publicly! LMAO

Facebook has a setting to prevent posting while inebriated so should Twitter but it still wouldn’t help those that don’t think before speaking!

There is an old saying “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

Now that Twitter has basically turned in Facebook Lite so to speak by supporting pictures, video, audio and the like it is very easy to slip up and make an embarrassing post or mistake. I have been fortunate enough to have the hindsight to have multiple accounts. I have not made any serious blunders but I may have mistakenly posted with a friends wife about a birthday gift. LOL See in my case what I post for work is not necessarily practical to church or personal posts. Use one account for church use another for work and then another for personal use and so on. It may take a little more time to check multiple accounts but it does pay off in the long run.

  4. I keep telling people, never write anything on the internet that your not willing to share with everyone in the world. Because you are, especially if you hit reply to all…
