A couple of days ago we found out that Google changed once again they're favicon for a new, more colorful and attractive one.

Favicons are meant to create remembrance among users and help them identify quickly a certain website. Changing them that often misses the goal of having a favicon, what do you think about it?

I really like the favicon idea it helps me to idenentify a web site that much better. My question to you is why doesn’t iconshock have one for their own website? I find it hard to believe that you lack the resources or the ability to create one. It just seems strange that an icon company does not have a “favicon”. Just my two cents.

I love and use Google products extensively. I appreciate their effort for very fast loading designs across all their online apps. But I never like their icons. Any of them. They all have an old “passé” look, very 1990’s. I think they never succeeded in conveying the modern, technology innovative company they really are. Google’s graphics lack boldness and self-confidence. So why a company who’s intelligence is proven every day (I recently installed their push technology to my iPhone, I LOVE it) seems to have such a weak visual communication? One answer would be that they are actually even smarter than I know, and use those graphics to purposefully make sure that a less technologically inclined audience identifies with them…
So, do I like the new favicon? …nah. Looks like something for an organically grown product, with a letter “g” on a backdrop of a setting sun over a green field. Not my idea of a technological tool. But again, I am a total tech nerd.
