Phototourism: A three dimensional photo viewer

When I saw what this application could do I was very surprised. Phototourism is the result of the collaboration between the University of Washington and Microsoft Research Center. This application collects pictures from photo sharing sites or personal galleries and computes each picture's viewpoint and sparse 3D model of the scene. It has a photo explorer interface that enables the user to interactively move around the space with a very fluent transition between each picture.

As you can see on the video, the possibilities are many, and the result looks great. I find this application very useful to create three dimensional environments and reconstructions. At I Started Something a PDF file explaining how they did it was linked for those interested on reading more information. And you, what do you thing an application like this one is useful for?
