Adding depth with 1px lines

Sometimes subtle details are the difference between an amateur design and pro work. It’s incredible how tiny, almost invisible touches make a whole difference in the way a design is perceived. In this article by Henry Jones for “Web Design Ledger”, he shows us how a 1px line can add depth and separation to your images in a web layout.

  1. i like the idea, n yes those little subtleties to me make the difference between a real professional and a worker. In fashion the people who pay attention to how pockets silhouette the body and where seams fit the body as opposed to hold fabric together are professionals. In a car the people who pay attention to ergonomics on the inside, having a small space feel big but still have everything you need those are professionals.
I’d LOVE to walk into garmin with a folder and rip apart their maps and programs with real life necessities and I know if they implemented my ideas they’d be a lot easier to use, a lot more accurate and involve their customers more creating a bigger loyalty base…but thats cuz sometimes im one of the ppl that notice the little things first….sometimes.
