Free Handpicked icon of the day: Icons of manhood

I drink sometimes. I used to smoke a lot. And I’ve never shot a gun in my life. Two thirds of manhood. Hmmm. Don’t know if that is a good thing. Check out this macho style icon set made by Daniel Levanon in Photoshop. Still not sure about the gun as a symbol of manhood. Or as a symbol of anything for that matter. If it was up to me I’ll extinguish all types of guns from the face of the earth. But well. Enough crap. Just download the frigging set. It’s fantastic.

Batman, Hitler and space invaders

What do these characters have to do with each other? Well, you all have seen “Space Invaders” the marvelous arcade game developed by the Taito corporation in the late 70’s. Ingenious designer Logan Walters made this cool poster with various spinoffs of the antagonist of this popular video game.

When 140 characters aren’t enough

If you ever complained about the difficulties of discussing Nietzsche and Kant on Twitter, we’ve found the right thing for you! Woofer is a “macroblogging” platform very similar to twitter, except for one thing: you have a minimum character count of 1400 characters. Are you feeling chatty?

google’s fiercest competitor

If you ever get tired of finding exactly what you want each time you use Google, web developers “Join the Company” created this hilarious parody called Unlucky time. Funny my mom has never heard of this but still gets the same results.

The worst, the bad and the ugly: government websites

Callum Chapman just made me laugh for almost two hours. Have you ever noticed that government websites are the most outdated, amateurish, ugliest things on the net? Well the people at the Noupe blog have published this outstanding list of almost every mayor government website on the planet. Everyday readers will get a laugh and designers will be rewarded with a hefty anti-reference vault.

Best augmented reality Apps

Holy shit! This is not part of a sci fi movie. This is happening and it’s happening now. And pretty soon, it will be yesterday’s news. Augmented reality apps take advantage of the GPS and the compass that iphones and other high end cell phones have to bring data to the real world in the most mind blowing ways you can imagine. This is a technology that is just starting and it is just amazing. Just imagine what will happen in 5 years. Which one is the craziest to you?

How Google Wave is going to change your business

I think Google wave is having mixed reviews because it’s too new to be understood completely. Wave is the new kid on the block and nobody knows all the cool toys he has in his basement. It’s a matter of time to make him open up.

Check out this reflection by Ryan Carson for his blog Think Vitamin. (Carsonified). I assure you will ever be indifferent to Google Wave again.

Open letter to Steve Jobs: Is apple rotten to the core?

As Fortune named Steve Jobs the CEO of the decade a couple of weeks ago, I think it’s the perfect opportunity to show this letter made by Jim Taylor for Computerworld, where he brings into debate the true sweetness behind the shiny apple peel. How can an apple so appealing on the outside, show so many signs of corporate hardball and double talk? Check out this very interesting article, one of my favorites this year.
