The guitar is the ultimate object of desire for any fan of rock and roll. I am going to buy a guitar for Christmas and was recently wondering which one to pick. Looking around, I found out that almost all my favorite music is the result of a hollow back semi acoustic guitar; Led Zeppelin, BB King, Chuck Berry and many others are fine examples of the beauty of this instrument’s sound. So one thing led to the other and now I’m posting this incredible set of guitar icons by Kyle Gilstrap. First song I will learn? hmm. Tough one. I think I’ll pick Roll over Beethoven from Chuck Berry! Hail Rock and Roll!

Michael Flarup is one of the most promising icon artists today. We began to notice his work earlier this year when researching for our list of the best movie themed icons in the web, and since then never stopped including his work on our reviews. His creations are incredibly detailed, with superb arrangement of colour and shape. This is a guy that ever wastes a pixel. Anybody interested in where icon art is heading in the future should keep on eye on Michael. We at Iconshock truly believe this is an artist that will bring many surprises to the industry in years to come.

Did you know that the word Matryoshka derives from the Russian first female name “Matryona”?. Icon artist Ben Schlitter made this extraordinary set that could look perfect on any operating system. I hope that special person out there sees this set because this is just one lame way to tell her I think about her every second.

This week we are bringing to Iconshock the origami icon guy himself…ladies and gentlemen, Here it is… Mr Paddy Donnelly!
Just about anyone in the internet interested in icons has seen his work. His origami icon set has been featured in tons of blogs and design magazines throughout the world, but this guy doesn’t stop there. He sure caught our attention with his icons, which I must say are one of the most original we’ve seen, but when we dug in his work, we found out that his designs go further. His “RedBurma” project uses clever visualization to bring to attention the atrocities that the military junta has casted upon their people. His other projects like “Shake hands with a stranger” and “Faces I see” deal with humanity and socialization in a new era where we seem to spend more time staring at a cold monitor than to somebody’s eyes. We are huge fans of his work, and that’s why we stalked him for weeks to get this interview. Enjoy the thoughts of a great artist, but overall a great guy.

Either as a profession, or as a part time job, blogging has become the cornerstone activity of the web 2.0 era. It is not absurd now days to hear a high school graduate thinking of blogging as a serious career choice.
Success stories are becoming the new urban myths, those bed time stories postmodern dads tell their children. Five years ago, I would have never imagined that the time will come when you could earn a living by writing articles without any journalism degree or experience. This new democracy of words does open the world to a flow never seen in history of man. And it also brings some short backs. As anybody can publish, there is no editorial and consequently, the amount of weed is getting impossible to purge.

Yes I know. This logo has been out there for quite a while. In fact, for a year. But its too cool to ignore.
