Today’s featured icon set: Bugs and viruses

Today we are going to showcase the work of design agency What What, run by designers and animators Edward and John Harrison. Their work is simply incredible, trendy yet original. All their art work has a certain craziness attached to it, as you can see in this excellent icon set. They have worked for big clients like Adidas and Nick Jr, which is just one symptom of their quality. This icon set comes in .sit compression for Mac Osx.

Today’s featured free icon set: Smurf Houses

I really loved the smurfs when I was a child. This Belgium cartoon is one of the most memorable of T.V. history, and our friends from troyboydesign decided to pay their homage. Very nice icons full of detail and very faithful to the original series… I once knew this incredible girl. The best girl in the world in fact, and among all her quirks and adorable madness, she loved smurfs. Hope she enjoys this set. And hope you regular readers forgive my reminiscence.

ace_of_hearts

Hello people. This card is a nice irony isn’t it? It’s the icon for games in Super Vista style. The symbol of love as part of a game appeared in the deck of cards towards the end of the 15th century and now we will glorify the crude facts of a divine ideal with the aid of Illustrator CS4.

Developer Tutorial: how to create those nasty custom scrollbars

I really think custom scrollbars suck. They are generally as ugly as the bottom of a tractor and make navigation clumsy and tedious.

But it is true that there are certain web pages where default scrollbars break the visual design and you have to figure out a way to bring everything together. Designing scrollbars is a very difficult task, so that’s why I’m posting this interesting tutorial by the guys at Hesido where they show us how to make a scrollbar in XHTML.

Confused by the name? bet you can’t spell it right. But I’m pretty sure you will enjoy the detail and artistry put into this set. Aotearoa is a Maorí word that means “New Zeland” and as we can see, this icon set depicts national symbols from that magical country. This set is the work of one of the most amazing icon artists out there, Mischa McLachlan. By the way, congratulations Mischa on your new job at Apple!

Note to Pc hardcore fans: Some reasons why developers are turning to Mac osx

There is a general belief that Pc’s are for programming and Mac’s are for designing. And although the market tendencies aimed at that partial truth ten years ago, the tides are turning pretty fast. In fact, we can say today that developers are turning to Mac’s and designers are turning to Linux. My question here is… who’s turning to windows?

This good article by Mark Nutter shows us five good reasons why developers are leaving their trusty, not so good looking Pc’s for the better accessibility and versatility of the always sexy  MacOsx.
