Google’s search accuracy is the mainstay of their growing empire. But it’s funny that one of the things that attracted at first glance the mayor public to using Google everyday wasn’t its indexing system, but rather the very innovative changes in their logo. I want to show you a video I found with some of the most rememberable until date.

How many nukes do we need to destroy the world?

I found this very creepy graph made by information is beautiful, where you can see in a clever, simple and straightforward design how much nukes we need to blow us all into oblivion. The info is sarcastic, and pretty optimistic since it doesn’t take into account all the beautiful and tender side effects of nuclear war, as famine, radiation spread and alike. Joyful and uplifting information to make your day!

James cameron’s new movie AVATAR. trailer in HD!

Mainstream public hasn’t seen much of James Cameron since “Titanic”, back in 1997. His work in this decade has been rather low profile, directing some very interesting documentaries where he showcases his latest developments in camera technology. I think he and George Lucas are some of the few directors in film history that beside doing thoughtful and entertaining movies, they have evolved cinema as a creative medium, pushing technology to new boundaries in the way films are produced, manipulated and exhibited.

Well, for those who were wondering…. this is Cameron’s return to the spotlight. These images have been stuck in my brain for days now, Just jaw dropping! Starring Sigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi and Sam Worthington.

Windows 7 will shut downloads on Thursday morning

Microsoft has said that from tomorrow morning, (August 20, 2009) Windows 7 release candidate will not be available to download. Although it has received mixed reviews, it’s no surprise that the demo version of Microsoft’s new assault on the world has been a huge success, counting downloads to millions, as company spokesmen has said earlier this week. This version of windows, as everybody knows already, will begin its expiration on March of 2010, when it will reboot automatically in two hour intervals, until finally self destructing, blowing your computer in pieces on June. (of course not!)

Windows downloads sill not be available from tomorrow, but you will still be able to obtain activation keys after that date if you have already downloaded the installation disk image. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! This message will self destruct in 5…4…3…2…

Ranorex automated GUI testing

I found another high end testing tool for Web and Windows applications called Ranorex. Their website is full of information and they even have a demo version for you to play with. Company profile seems very solid and their site is top 400.000 which isn’t to die for, but at least gives you a serious guarantee that you are not dealing with a pizza shop.

The full package includes many app for test customization through .NET scripts, and support for 3rd party controls like DevExpress and QT. It’s a bit expensive, at 980 Euro (Premium License) But its extensive list of features might deserve the big bucks.

Twenty year old icons still found in Mac OsX leopard

Remember my article regarding the evolution of graphical user interfaces? You better, because I spent two whole F@! days writing it! Well, I found this post by Leander Kahney from Cult of Mac who tells us how to find a little Easter egg back from the time when Steve Jobs hated apples and had breakfast at NEXT instead. (Guide to understand this not-funny-at-all-joke-even-to-geeks here.)

Radiohead quits on albums

English band Radiohead is one of the few mainstream acts out there actually trying to do some real music. Like them or not, when you hear their stuff you can immediately tell that their songs are not the product of some marketing study or publicity campaign. They make music just because that’s what they do.

They somehow changed the way music is marketed with their experiment with the album “In rainbows” that was released by themselves through the internet. People could download their album paying whatever they thought it was worth, ($0 option included) and the idea was a total success. Their earned a lot more than what they would have earned if they sold the album the traditional way with a record label behind them. Now they take another step into the future of music, saying that they would not release any more albums, focusing their career on publishing singles instead. Read this complete article that Dana Oshiro made for Read Write Web for more insight about the future of music industry.
